June 3, 2013

The municipality’s crews handed out administrative demolition orders to a number of houses in the village of Silwan on Sunday morning, under the pretext of building without a permit. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the municipality’s crews along with the Israeli police raided the neighbourhoods of Bi’er Ayoub, Al-Bustan and Wadi Hilweh where they took pictures of several houses; they also handed out demolition orders in Al-Bustan neighbourhood. Among the houses that received administrative demolition orders were the houses of Mazen Odeh and his brother Wael, who said that a demolition order was hung on the outside doors of both houses after taking pictures from the outside, noting that 10 individuals live in the houses and they were built in 2003; he also noted that building violation fees were imposed and are being paid until the day. Another demolition order was hung on the door of Al-Rajabi house. Pictures were also taken for the house of Abu Yousef Risheq which was built five years ago and the owner has been paying building fees; the house of Jom’a Khader Odeh was also pictured, knowing that his house has been built for more than thirty years. The crews also raided a house for the Rweidi family and took photos of one residential room. The crews withdrew from Al-Bustan neighbourhood after throwing stones at them.
