The Jerusalemite Hasan Abu Hadwan self-demolishes part of his house
June 17, 2013

The Jerusalemite resident, Hasan Abu Hadwan, self-demolished part of his house located in Oqbat Tkyeh in the old city of Jerusalem, an implementation to the municipality’s decision. Abu Hadwan explained that he had added a 25-square meter room to a room that he lives in with his six family members four years ago. After it was finished, a demolition order was issued, under the pretext of building without a permit, and a reduced fine of 2500 NIS was imposed on him on condition that he self-demolishes the new room. He pointed out that the room he had demolished only has a bathroom and a closet, noting that it was built from tin plates (walls and ceiling), and the cost of building was 70 thousand NIS.
