September 17, 2014

The Israeli police arrested on Wednesday the 16-year old Shadi Raed Ghurab while he was walking in Nablus Street in Jerusalem. The police assaulted the child and severely beat him with batons while he was detained in the interrogation room in Salah Eddin Street police station; note that he suffered fractures in his arm and leg. The child explained that one soldier detained him in Nablus Street and then took him to Salah Eddin Street police station. After the interrogator came in the room, he mocked the child for being a resident of the neighborhood of Al-Thori which resulted in verbal altercations. He added that the interrogator transferred him to a different room which did not have any cameras and he was assaulted by three soldiers. He explained that he was able to leave the station during the arrest of another young man, and he was transferred to Al-Maqased hospital with an ambulance where he was treated.
