April 27, 2015

Hundreds of Jerusalemites participated on Monday early morning in the funeral of the 17-year old Martyr Ali Abu Ghannam. The Israeli occupation handed the body of the Martyr to his family at Al-Zaytoona checkpoint in the village of Al-Tur and was then transferred in an ambulance to “Al-Hardoob” area where hundreds of Jerusalemites were waiting; they carried the Martyr and raised Palestinian flags and Islamic and National banners. The Martyr was prevented from going to Al-Maqased hospital and therefore was cleaned in the ambulance before being praying on his soul at Al-Tur Mosque and burring the body in Al-Tur cemetery. The occupation authorities deliberately delayed the process of handing the Martyr’s body to his family and at 2 a.m. the family received the body in the presence of Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, and lawyer Tarek Barghouth from the Ministry of Prisoners. Violent clashes broke out in the village of Al-Tur (Main Street) during and after the funeral and the Israeli forces heavily fired sound grenades, tear gas and rubber bullets towards the young men who responded with stones and firecrackers.
