Sentencing three young men…extensions of arrest

The District judge sentenced on Wednesday one young man and extended the arrest of others. Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, explained that the District judge sentenced Amer Abbasi for 16-months of actual imprisonment and a suspended probation of two years for three years. A session was also held for the prisoners Khalil Odeh and Mohammad Ja’bari; Odeh was sentenced for 13 months of actual imprisonment and Ja’bari for 12 months. A session was scheduled for them on 16/9/2015 to ratify the sentences against them after the conduct officer releases his reports. The judge also extended the arrest of Fahmi Haymooni until 16/9/2015. Lawyer Mahmoud explained that the young men were accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at a settler’s car. The judge also extended the arrest of Basel Shweiki until 8/9/2015. Lawyer Mahmoud added that Hamzeh Syouri was presented on Wednesday to the judge and a session was scheduled for him on 19/10/2015. During Wednesday’s session, the releasing conditions against him were reduced in which the house-arrest will be from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, explained that the District court in Jerusalem sentenced the 19-year old Jerusalemite prisoner Mohammad Hasan Yousef Khweis from Al-Tur for 13 months of actual imprisonment. The Magistrate court sentenced the 22-year old Jerusalemite prisoner Anas Ahmad Obeid from the village of Esawyeh for 5 months of actual imprisonment; note that he is currently imprisoned with his older brother Mohammad and their father Ahmad who is sentenced for life in prison in “Rimon” prison.
