A new settlement project in the neighborhood of Batn Al-Hawa in Silwan
The settlement organization “Ateret Cohanim” submitted a new blueprint to the Local Committee for Planning and Building to obtain the necessary permits to build a new settlement building in the neighborhood of Batn Al-Hawa in Silwan south of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Ahmad Sub Laban, a researcher in settlement affairs, revealed that Ateret Cohanim organization submitted a blueprint to build a new settlement building in Batn Al-Hawa near the settlement outpost “Bet Yonatan” that was built in 2004. He explained that the settlement organization requested to obtain a permit to build a residential building consisting three units with four floors in addition to expanding the roads in between Bet Yonatan and the new building. Sub Laban pointed out that Ateret Cohanim had planted 71 settlement outposts in the Old City of Jerusalem since 1967 and started seizing houses in Batn Al-Hawa since 2004 by taking-over “Bet Yonatan” then “House of Honey” and two residential building and a piece of land consisting of 10 settlement units last year in addition to three houses last May.
