Releasing the child Mohammad Nader Abu Rmeileh

The occupation police released on Monday night the 8-year old Ahmad Nader Abu Rmeileh after detaining and interrogating him for one hour at Salah Eddin Street police station. Nader Abu Rmeileh explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center that the occupation police arrested his son from the neighborhood of Al-Sa’dyeh while he was playing with a group of other children; they accused him of throwing stones towards a surveillance camera and damaging it. Ahmad’s father added that the forces arrested his son and took him to Salah Eddin Street police station and allowed one young man to accompany him. The forces then forced him to leave and detained Ahmad for nearly one hour by himself and his family was informed of the arrest through neighbors and young men. Abu Rmeileh explained that the interrogator requested the attendance of one of his parents and refused to allow his uncle or grandfather to enter the room with him; Ahmad’s father was at work and is mother was at the hospital. The child’s father added that he was able to reach the police center after nearly one hour and his son was alone and was accused of damaging a surveillance camera in the Old City of Jerusalem. The police also claimed to have a video of the child throwing stones and ignored the father’s request when he asked to see the recording. The police then released the child without any condition.
