Al-Aqsa: Clashes in the courtyards…storming into Al-Qibali Mosque
The occupation forces stormed on Tuesday morning Al-Aqsa Mosque and attacked the worshippers with sound grenades to secure the settlers’ break-in on occasion of the Jewish New Year. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the occupation forces stormed into Al-Qibali Mosque –one of Al-Aqsa mosques- and reached the platform of Salah Eddin. The forces arrested one young man from inside the Mosque and randomly fired sound grenades and rubber bullets. Witnesses explained that the forces raided Al-Aqsa Mosque through Dung Gate since the early morning (6:30 a.m.) and were deployed in the area near the entrance. Nearly an hour later, the forces raided the courtyards and heavily fired sound grenades and rubber bullets. Witnesses added that the forces assaulted all the people present in the courtyards with beatings and grenades and deliberately detained them (elderly people) in specific places. The forces often pushed the elderly and threatened to fire grenades towards them. The witnesses explained that violent clashes (most violent in three days) broke out at Al-Aqsa Mosque between the Marabouts at Al-Qibali Mosque and the occupation forces which went on top of the roof and fired rubber bullets towards the young man. Al-Aqsa surrounded and under siege The occupation authorities imposed its siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque since the early morning hours and prevented all Muslims from entering. The prevention included the students of Al-Aqsa schools. Al-Majles Gate and Al-Wad Street Al-Majles Gate and Al-Wad Street adjacent to the gate witnessed violent clashes between the worshippers and occupation forces after the Special Forces individuals followed the worshippers and assaulted them with beatings and sound grenades. Fire broke out in one residential house in the African Quarter (Al-Majles Gate) and in a car due to random firing of sound grenades according to Naser Qos, director of Prisoner’s Club in Jerusalem and a resident of the area.
