The occupation authorities turned Wadi Hilweh Street in Silwan into a military zone on Wednesday afternoon when they raided several residential houses and Wadi Hilweh Information Center and conducted several arrests.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center (WHIC) explained that Special Forces along with intelligence personnel raided the house of Amin Siam and started searching it. They obstructed traffic in the street before completely closing it resulting into heavy traffic jams; forces were heavily deployed in the street.

Majd Gheith from WHIC said the forces assaulted the young men while searching the house of Siam family. They arrested Jawad Siam, director of Wadi Hilweh Information Center, Omar Siam, Mohammad Siam, Dia’ Baydoun and Hilal Baydoun after assaulting and severely beating them.

Gheith added that the forces stormed into the center, checked his ID and threatened to request him for interrogation; they also asked several questions regarding the center’s employees.

The forces also raided several residential houses in the neighborhood using force and threatened the residents.

Majd Gheith pointed out that the forces and intelligence personnel have been raiding Wadi Hilweh Street on a daily basis for the last week, and randomly issuing traffic tickets to vehicle. They also threatened to impose more sanctions on the neighborhood under the pretext of throwing stones towards the settlement outposts in the area.
