A 25-year old British student was killed on Friday afternoon in a stabbing attack inside the light rail near New Gate- one of the Old City’s gates.

The occupation authorities said they arrested the attacker, Jamil Tamimi 57. He is from Ras Al-Amoud in Silwan and suffers from psychological problems.

Sources from Tamimi family said the occupation intelligence requested Jamil’s sons (Omar, Tayseer, Mohammad and Firas) for interrogation.

Occupation forces were heavily deployed at the gates of the Old City of Jerusalem and established checkpoints. They also increased their presence at Al-Aqsa gates.

Storming into Al-Aqsa Mosque

The occupation’s Special Forces raided Al-Aqsa Mosque through Dung Gate and were stationed in the courtyard of Dung Gate.

Forces were also deployed at the gates of Al-Aqsa and detained young men and children and checked their IDs upon leaving Al-Aqsa. They also searched them and transferred some of them to interrogation centers.

Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud said the forces arrested 12 Palestinians after they left Al-Aqsa Mosque.
