An eviction notice for Qneibi family in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in Jerusalem
March 7, 2018

The Israeli “Collection department” recently delivered a notice to Rateb Qneibi asking him to evict his house in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in Jerusalem in favor of the settlers.

Rateb explained that the occupation authorities handed him an eviction order on 25/2/2018 and gave him three weeks to execute the order which was issued back in 1998. Rateb confirmed that the family never receiving such notices from the Israeli courts, and have no idea about the order issued 20 years ago.

Seven people live in Rateb’s house; a father (special needs), mother and five children including one special needs child.

He added that the family has been living in the house for nearly 50 years, and this is the first time they receive such an order.

The house consists of three rooms and their facilities, where renovation works are not allowed without a permit from the occupation authorities.

The house of Qneibi family lies in the eastern part of Sheikh Jarrah and is one of the houses at risk of being confiscated under the pretext of “ownership of property and land for Jews before 1948”. Many locals headed to court to protect their rights after receiving evictions notices in the last few years.
