On Sunday, the occupation forces summoned three Jerusalemites from Sumrein family from Silwan, for interrogation about "cleaning the surrounding land of Al-Ein Mosque" in Silwan.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center / Silwan explained that the occupation authorities summoned the “Muezzin” of the mosque Adam Sumrein, 84 years, and Shadi Mohammad Sumrein, 44 years, and arrested Ibrahim Khader Sumrein, 54 years, from his workplace, to investigate them on "cleaning the surrounding land of Al-Ein Mosque" in the neighborhood of Wadi Hilweh.

Shadi Sumrein explained to the information center that the land surrounding the mosque and Dar Al-Qur’an is under the custody and guarding of the Sumrein family, which it rented in 1932 from the Greek Orthodox Monastery, and the occupation authorities claim that it was purchased from Patriarch Arenius, indicating that its area is about 1500 square meters, and it is used by residents of the neighborhood as a parking lot for their vehicles.

Sumrein added that many attempts were made to control the land and close it, but they were confronted, pointing out that the municipality tried to seize the land in 2010 to turn it into a parking lot for settlers ’vehicles, but that plan was also confronted and prevented.

Sumrein explained that the occupation authorities and the settlers tried to build an entrance to the land and put a guard room for them, but that was not allowed to happen as well.
