After banning the governor of Jerusalem from entering the West Bank…imposing home confinement on him in Silwan
On Wednesday evening, the occupation intelligence handed the governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, two military decisions according to which he is prohibited from beingand movingin East Jerusalem, "except for his place of residence in the town of Silwan," and also prohibiting him from communicating with dozens of officials, headed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, for a period of 6 months.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that the occupation intelligence summoned the governor of Jerusalem for investigation, and handed him the decision signed by the "commander of the home front in the occupation army", which stated: "An order – according to the powers of the 1975 emergency laws, and the need to preserve the security of Israel and the public, and public order- to ban Adnan Ghaith from entering to the areas of East Jerusalem and not to be in Jerusalem with the exception of Silwan ...Also, not to "directly or indirectly" communicate with dozens of people without a written statement from him”.
In an interview with the Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith,he explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center with that this is the fourth military decision that he received during the last two years, and it was issued by the "Minister of Interior and Commander of the Central Region," and these decisions are renewed directly every 6 months.
Ghaith added that previous military decisions were preventing him from entering the West Bank, and the decision included his office, "the Jerusalem Governorate building" in Al-Dahiya north of the city, and it was renewed 4 times, the last of which was last August, preventing him from communicating with 8 Palestinian personalities, and today the decision was renewed, but with an increase in the names of people that he is banned from communicating with. The decision had the names of 51 Palestinian personalities "leaders, officials and field activists” attached to it, and also prevented him from holding or participating in meetings or gatherings inside Jerusalem or any event, and any payment of funds and aid to institutions and those affected.
Ghaith added: “Today's new military decision prohibits me from moving and being in Jerusalem."
Commenting on the decisions, the governor said: "These prosecutions and decisions are pursuing all Palestinians and targeting their presence inside the city to force them to leave, which is a war in an attempt to obliterate the Palestinian identity and strike the Palestinian sovereignty in the city of Jerusalem."
Ghaith stressed that the various decisions in Jerusalem violate all divine laws "when we are prevented from accessing the holy sites," and all international norms and laws.
