Turning the neighborhood into a military zone- A US diplomatic delegation visits Silwan
On Wednesday evening, an American diplomatic delegation visited the settlement outpost, "City of David," in the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood of Silwan, amid road closures and the massive deployment of occupation forces in the place.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center / Silwan stated that the diplomatic delegation arrived at the settlement outpost "City of David" in the evening hours, and toured for more than an hour and a half.
The center added that the occupation forces turned the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood, specifically the vicinity of the settlement outpost, into a military zone, with the intensive presence in the vicinity of the settlement and the setting up of iron barriers. Before the arrival of the delegation, the forces prevented the locals from reaching their homes in the area of the settlement outpost, and were stationed at the entrances of neighborhoods, and also prevented the locals from being present and walking in the street and forcing them to enter their homes. Sniper teams occupied the roofs close to the location of the outpost, and since noon, the forces set up tents in the place.
The residents of Wadi Hilweh neighborhood complained that they were prevented from reaching their homes and were forced to leave the area, despite the cold weather, while the police provided full protection for the settlers to reach the settlement outpost in the neighborhood, and allowed them to walk around the outpost, "City of David."
The residents also explained to the center that the occupation authorities began to deploy in Wadi Hilweh in the afternoon, and police and "police dogs" roamed the neighborhood.
