Handing out administrative demolition orders in Al-Bustan neighbourhood and raiding houses in the neighbourhood of Wadi Hilweh
October 9, 2013

The Jerusalem municipality crews hung an administrative demolition order on the houses of Zidani and Odeh families in Silwan. Locals said that the municipality employees accompanied by the police raided the neighbourhood of Al-Bustan and took pictures all over the neighbourhood and focused on its alleys, entrances and exits. They hung an administrative demolition order on the house of Sheikh Mousa Odeh, and another on Zidani family house and took pictures of the flags hung on the doors of the house on occasion of releasing their son from the Israeli prisons. Joint crews from the Jerusalem municipality and Israeli police raided three houses in the neighbourhood of Wadi Hilweh in Silwan this morning. Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that the crews raided houses for Al-Natsheh and Aweidah families along with raiding the house of the director of Wadi Hilweh Information Center, Jawad Siam, under the pretext of doing illegal construction works. It is noteworthy that the forces raided the above mentioned houses without taking permission from the residents, and broke into the doors without even knocking on them. The police arrested two workers from the West Bank because they don’t have permits to enter Jerusalem, and seized construction tools from one of the houses when none of its residents was inside. The forces also surrounded Wadi Hilweh Information Center and tried to break into it, but the Center’s staff confronted and prevented them. The municipality crews called up Jawad Siam to investigate him at the municipality’s headquarters. The Center pointed out that the neighbourhood of Wadi Hilweh is considered to be one of the targeted neighbourhoods in Silwan because of its location as it is close to the southern wall of Al-Aqsa and contains several settlement outposts.
