Sentencing five children from the village of Sur Baher
The District court judge sentenced on Wednesday morning five children from the village of Sur Baher on charges of throwing Molotov cocktails at an Israeli vehicle and severely injuring a young girl in the head. The judge’s decision included actual imprisonment and compensating the affected girl in addition to a fine payable to the Israeli state which could also be substituted with two months of actual imprisonment, and a suspended probation of 10 months for three years; note that the five children range between 14 and 17 years of age. The prison sentences were as follows: Suhaib Afaneh: actual imprisonment for 24 months and 8 thousand NIS to compensate the girl. Mohammad Mahmoud Aton: actual imprisonment for 22 months and 6 thousand NIS to compensate the girl. Ahmad Mohammad Abu A’bed: actual imprisonment for 21 months and 6 thousand NIS to compensate the girl. Louai Hamada: actual imprisonment for 18 months and 2 thousand NIS to compensate the girl. Mahmoud Naser Abu A’bed: actual imprisonment for 18 months and 6 thousand NIS to compensate the girl.
