In pictures: The Friday Prayer in the streets of Jerusalem
Thousands of Palestinians performed the Friday Noon Prayer in the streets of Jerusalem after the Israeli authorities prevented men under the age of 50 from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque; note that this is the fourth consecutive Friday where young men are prevented from entering Al-Aqsa.
Despite the heavy presence of Israeli police and rain, prayers were held in the neighborhoods of Ras Al-Amoud, Wadi Al-Joz, Herod’s Gate and Al-Musrara and the young men prayed at the closest point possible to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Aqsa Mosque seemed empty of worshippers and nearly 4000 people) old men and women) performed the Prayer inside the Mosque.
A peaceful march in support of Al-Aqsa was suppressed by the Israeli forces in Wadi Al-Joz and the forces fired sound grenades and rubber bullets towards the young men.
The forces assaulted on Friday an employee of the Islamic Awqaf, Jadallah Al-Ghoul, and severely beat him when he attempted to enter Al-Aqsa.
Al-Ghoul explained that he tried to go to work inside Al-Aqsa Mosque through Chain Gate but one policeman refused to let him in and claimed that he is a firefighter and is not a guard. The policeman also verbally assaulted him and Jadallah was forced to enter Al-Aqsa through Al-Majles Gate but another policeman pled him from his back and several Special Forces personnel assaulted him and pushed him to the ground.
Al-Ghoul added that the forces continued to assault him with their hands and legs and also took his ID and arrested him and then one officer came and ordered to release him and allow him to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Ghoul pointed out that he went to Al-Maqased hospital and underwent a checkup that revealed an injury in the shoulder in addition to bruises in various parts of his body.
