Two settlers attacked two Jerusalemite children on Tuesday in the neighborhood of Al-Sharaf in the Old City of Jerusalem; the children were on their way to Al-Aqsa Mosque. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the children (13-year old Mohammad Ayoub Abu Hadwan and his 10-year old sister Fida’) were walking in Al-Sharaf neighborhood in the Old City and were on their way to Al-Aqsa Mosque to participate in a summer camp. The children’s father said that two settlers intercepted them and attacked them. Ayoub Abu Hadwan added that the settlers hit his children and a police force arrived in the area and tried to arrest Mohammad under the pretext of attacking a settler but passers-by intervened and prevented them from arresting the child. The police took his name and phone number and one police officer told the child they will contact his father for interrogation. Abu Hadwan added that Mohammad and Fida’ were terrifies and were also in pain. The father also explained that his family had been assaulted several times while walking in Al-Sharaf neighborhood which is considered the closest from Wadi Hilweh into the Old City of Jerusalem.
