Sentencing Saeed Qumboz for 17 years…arrests…extensions of arrest
The District Court sentenced the 30-year old Jerusalemite prisoner Saeed Farouq Mohammad Qumboz while the judges extended the arrest of several young men and children.
Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, explained that the District judge sentenced Qumboz for 17 years of actual imprisonment and a 50-thousand NIS fine after convicting him of stabbing a soldier in the Central Bus Station on 27/12/2015.
The judge also sentenced the child Nidal Ghannam for 5 months of actual imprisonment and a 3000-NIS fine.
On the other hand, the occupation forces arrested on Wednesday night Obada Najib from the Old City of Jerusalem and one child from the neighborhood of Shu’fat according to a police report.
On Wednesday night, the police released the 17-year old twin-brothers Omar and Ali Hasan Firawi after interrogating them for several hours at Al-Qishleh police station in the Old City of Jerusalem. Occupation forces and intelligence personnel raided the house of Firawi family in the Old City and searched it for several hours and handed the family a request of interrogation for the twins.
Extensions of arrest
Lawyer Mohamamd Mahmoud explained that the Magistrate judge extended the arrest of the children Ala’ Akoob and Mohammad Totah until 2/11/2016 when the so-called “conduct officer” will release his report.
He also extended the arrest of the two minors Yousef Abu Shkeidem and Mohammad Bayya’ as well as Jawad Meze’ro and Fadi Shawa until 30/10/2016; a prosecutor’s permit was submitted against them in order to file indictments against them.
The judge also extended the arrest of Amir Abu Khadijeh until 28/10/2016.
Also, the judge decided to release Mohannad Abu Asab at 7 p.m. with a 500-NIS bail, house-arrest for 5 days and a third-party bail but the police appealed the decision. A session was held for him and the judge extended his arrest until Thursday.
Releases
The judge released Mohammad Salaymeh on condition of deportation from the Old City of Jerusalem for 30 days and a third-party bail of 5 thousand NIS.
The judge also released the child Munjed Abu Hadwan with a third-party bail.
The judge also extended the arrest of Ghadeer Jamjoom until Friday and the court decided to continue to prevent the prisoners from meeting her lawyer and prevent publication of the details of her case.
