Arrests and assaults against young men in Silwan
September 25, 2018

The Israeli occupation forces arrested two Jerusalemites on Tuesday evening after assaulting them in Al-Ein Street in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center / Silwan explained that the Israeli occupation forces and settlers' guards assaulted young Jerusalemites, beat and pushed them and also sprayed them with pepper gas while being deployed in the area to secure the settlers’ marches.

The center added that the forces arrested Walid Rajabi and his son Fathi while they were in front of their shop "Cafe"; they were both assaulted and beaten.

The Israeli police began closing streets and roads leading to the village of Silwan to facilitate the marches and celebrations of the settlers in the village and in the area of Dung Gate and Al-Buraq Wall. This resulted in severe traffic jams in the village’s neighborhoods forcing the residents to take alternative roads to get to their homes.
