There were conflicting reports about the health condition of the Palestinian youth, where Israeli media spoke of his martyrdom, while the Israeli police said that "they opened fire at the young man and he was “neutralized"by the troops stationed in the place.

Israeli sources said that an 18-year-old Israeli was injured near the Hurva synagogue in Jerusalem. His injuries were minor. Another man was injured near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem, as he was stabbed in the neck and head and suffered critical injuries.

After the shooting of the Palestinian youth, the Israeli occupation forces closed the entire area of Damascus Gate and prevented entry or exit, while tightening its measures on the gates of the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque. They put iron barriers and deployed troops and prevented entry through the gates, and coincided with the arrival of worshipers to Al-Aqsa to perform the last Friday prayers of Ramadan.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center said that the closure of the Old City continued for several hours. As the worshipers continued to enter Al-Aqsa, the police allowed them to enter through Herods Gate and Lions Gate only after waiting for about two hours under the sun.

The center added that the Israeli police closed four of Al-Aqsa Mosque’s gates, located at the western wall of al-Aqsa, Al-Majles, Al-Silsileh, Al-Qataneen and Al-Hadeed, while allowing the worshipers to enter through its gates from the northern side; Lions, Hutta, King Faisal and Al-Ghawanmeh.
