October 3, 2022

On Monday, the Israeli Public Prosecution submitted its response to the Israeli Supreme Court on the appeal regarding "handing over the body of the martyr Mohammad Abu Jom’a.

The lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the Israeli Public Prosecution claimed in its response to the appeal that was submitted on Sunday, "that it has not taken the decision on whether or not to hand over the body until this moment," and asked the court for a period of time until 8/11/2022 to submit its detailed response to the appeal case.

Lawyer Mahmoud added that he submitted his objection to the court over the length of time requested by the prosecution, to provide a detailed response to the appeal.

Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the prosecution pledged not to bury the body of the martyr Muhammad Abu Jom'a in the “Numbers Cemetery”.

"It seems that the prosecution wants to delay responding to the appeal until the end of the Jewish holidays," said lawyer Mohammed Mahmoud.

The young man, Mohammad Abu Jom’a, was martyred, on September 22nd, near the “Modi’in” settlement, and the occupation authorities continue to arrest the young man, Raed Abu Jom’a - the martyr’s cousin - who was with him and his two daughters in the vehicle, before Mohammad got out of the vehicle and was shot.
