Details- Armed settlers attack the residents of Sheikh Jarrah... Confrontations in Jerusalem... Dozens of arrests and injuries
Late Thursday evening, dozens of settlers carried out attacks against Jerusalemites, the most severe of which was in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the city, in addition to attacks in the village of Umm Tuba and Street No. 1 in Jerusalem.
Sheikh Jarrah
Dozens of masked and armed settlers stormed the western part of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and gathered inside one of the looted houses, then came out in successive groups, and started attacking the neighborhood’s residents, breaking into the yards of houses, throwing stones at properties, residents and passersby in the neighborhood, and they also attacked a group of the residents that were mostly elderly, with stones and curses.
Among the intruders was the extremist MK Itamar Ben Gavir, who threatened the residents with his pistol.
Mrs. Umm Ramadan Al-Sa'ou explained that the settlers stormed her house in the neighborhood and assaulted her and her mother, who required to be transported to the hospitalby ambulance.
As for Rateb Qneibi, he said: “More than 150 settlers stormed the neighborhood, dozens of them masked. They stormed the neighborhood in front of the police present in the place, and the police did not prevent them or drive them out of the neighborhood, but allowed them to walk and reach one of the looted houses, and within minutes the settlers attacked us while we were sitting in front of our homes, then the occupation forces suppressed us.”
Jawad Burqan said that the settlers’ attacks in the neighborhood began 3 days ago. The first day was breaking windows of some vehicles. The second day, “Wednesday,” dozens of people stormed the main street and attacked the Sheikh Jarrah Mosque, vehicles and the Al-Sumoud building with stones, as well as the residents. Today it was the biggest attack on the population and their property.
During the settlers’ attacks with stones and insults, the forces attacked those present with bombs, beatings and shoving. Iron barriers were also erected to prevent settlers’ access to Palestinian homes, then the area was forcibly emptied of young men and press crews, and residents were forced to enter their homes.
On the main street, dozens of settlers attacked houses, shops, and residents with stones. They also attacked the Al-Hayat Medical Center in the neighborhood.
After midnight, the forces sprayed wastewater extensively inside the neighborhood, targeting homes and vehicles.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center – Jerusalem learned that the occupation forces carried out arrests from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood that included Hamdi Al-Risheq, Bashar Ya’eesh, Louay Mtour, Ayman Okkeh, Ahmed Okkeh, Ghareeb Shalash, Ahmed Al-Risheq, Waheed Al-Risheq, and Muhammad Al-Julani.
Injuries
The Red Crescent reported that its crews dealt 20 injuries with "beatings and stones" during confrontations with settlers and the occupation forces in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and 5 injuries were taken to hospital.
In the village of Umm Tuba, south of Jerusalem, settlers attacked the residents by throwing stones at their vehicles as they were traveling on the main road leading to the town, knowing that it is opposite the settlement of "Jabal Abu Ghneim".
In the town of Silwan, violent confrontations erupted in the neighborhoods of Ras al-Amoud, al-Thori, and Bi’er Ayoub. The forces used sound and gas bombs and rubber bullets, and carried out arrests, including: Louay Alqam, Khalil Shweiki, Nayef al-Risheq, Muhammad Nader, and arrested two other boys.
The Red Crescent stated that its crews dealt with 3 injuries of children in Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood, a 7-day-old baby, a 6-year-old, and a 14-year-old boy, due to the gas bombs.
From the town of Beit Hanina, the undercover unit arrested 3 children: Musa al-Rajabi, Malik Abu Asab, and Mahmoud Yaghmour, as explained by the lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, Firas al-Jabrini.
After midnight, clashes erupted in the town of Shu’fat, and the forces arrested a young man after beating him.
The settlers also organized a march in the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem, and attacked Jerusalemites in the area of Al-Majles Gate.
