Day 60: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in the city of Jerusalem
On the 60th day of “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation, the occupation municipality implemented demolition decisions in Beit Hanina, while the District Court issued a decision to ban the “Jerusalem Zakat” Committee. The siege of Al-Aqsa Mosque, raids into neighborhoods and towns in Jerusalem, and arrests continued.
Banning the “Jerusalem Central Zakat Committee”
The Jerusalem District Court decided to ban the Jerusalem Central Zakat Committee, under the pretext of its support for terrorism.
Last October, the Register of Associations, through the Implementation and Control Unit of the Companies Authority of the Israeli Ministry of Justice, submitted a request to the District Court to issue an order to ban the Jerusalem Central Zakat Association under the pretext of carrying out “activities that support terrorism”.
The decision stated, “An indictment was filed against the association and its founders, under the pretext that the association’s founders were Hamas activists, and during their work they distributed money to families in need, including the families of Hamas activists and the families of martyrs. The association was also accused of transferring funds to orphans not affiliated with Hamas with the aim of increasing popular support and sympathy for the organization, absorbing its ideas and recruiting additional activists into its ranks, as well as promoting Hamas’ goals.”
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem noted that the occupation authorities had arrested the Zakat Committee official and his son in February 2022, and confiscated from them the keys to the “Zakat Committee Office”, located on the roof of the Bab al-Rahma prayer hall in Al-Aqsa. They stormed the office and confiscated some of the contents.
Demolition
In the morning hours, the occupation municipality crews and vehicles, accompanied by special forces and police, stormed the homes of the Idris family in Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem, completely besieged the area, and then began emptying the contents of the homes.
The Idris family explained that municipal machinery demolished 3 of the family’s facilities, “a barracks and two houses below it,” all of which were used as family residences.
He added that the facilities have been in place since 2005, and the municipality issued demolition decisions in 2019, and the demolition was carried out without prior warning.
Next Thursday... a settlers' march
The occupation police agreed to organize a settlers’ march next Thursday evening in the Old City, entitled “Restoring full Jewish control over Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem, and ending the role of guardianship and Endowments in Al-Aqsa.”
Siege of Al-Aqsa
For the ninth week in a row, the occupation authorities continue to impose their siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque, preventing entry to it except for Islamic Endowments employees and the elderly, “most of whom are residents of the Old City.”
The occupation forces are deployed on Al-Aqsa Mosque, tightening entry procedures, and deliberately stopping and searching anyone who attempts to enter the mosque.
111 settlers carried out their incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards, through the Dung Gate, the keys of which have been controlled by the occupation authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem.
The same situation applies to the Old City, where forces continue to deploy and position themselves at the gates of the city, especially “Herods, Lions, and Damascus.”
The raids, sporadic arrests, and summons continued, especially for freed prisoners in the city of Jerusalem.
