The Alayan family is forced to self-demolish their residential building in Sur Baher
The occupation municipality forced the Alayan/Abd Rabbo family to self-demolish their apartment in the village of Sur Baher under the pretext of building without a permit.
Sufian Alayan/Abd Rabbo said that his apartment has been built for about 11 years, consisting of 3 rooms and its utilities, and he lives in it with his wife and two children.
Sufian added that after moving into his home, the occupation municipality pursued him with demolition decisions, licensing demands, and building violations, until it issued the final demolition decision in October 2023, without his knowledge, and the demolition decision was posted on his apartment at the beginning of this year.
Alayan said that the municipality asked him to demolish the apartment within 21 days from the date of posting the demolition decision, otherwise its crews will do so and he will be forced to pay the costs of the demolition to the municipality and the accompanying forces.
Alayan said that he began demolishing the apartment several days ago, after emptying its contents, and he is continuing the demolition process, and his family was displaced, as they did not have enough time to look for another home, in addition to the high costs of rent.
Alayan explained that the municipality imposed a building fine on him of 85 thousand shekels, and if he does not continue to pay it, he will be sentenced to time in prison.
