10 boys and young men from Issawiya are threatened with indictment in the case of assaulting a settler
On Sunday, the Public Prosecution submitted a public prosecutor's permit to file indictments against 10 young men and boys from the village of Issawiya in Jerusalem.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem stated that 10 young men and boys from Issawiya were arrested in recent days, and some were interrogated in detention cells on suspicion of "attacking a settler in his car with stones, bottles, and empty containers as he entered the village of Issawiya at the end of last January."
The center explained that the detainees, who will be indicted on Tuesday and Thursday, are: Abdel Hadi Abu Zakhem, Ali Alayan, Mohammad Abu Khaled, Mohammad Da'as, Zain al-Din Abu al-Hummus, Majed Alayan, Marwan Mustafa, Mohammad Muhannad Mheisen, Musa Mustafa, and Mohammad Samih Alayan.
Firas A-Jabrini, a lawyer for the Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem, added that the detention of all detainees has been extended until Thursday, with the exception of Mohammad Mheisen, whose detention has been extended until Tuesday. They have been been held in the cells for 20 days pending indictments against them in the District Court.
Al-Jabrini said that the arrests from the village of Issawiya, on suspicion of "assaulting a settler," began in mid-February. Separate arrests were made of young men, boys, and children, who were interrogated at the Salah al-Din, O’z, Room 4, and Cell 20 police stations. Some were released, while 10 remained in detention pending indictments, including eight boys (under the age of 18).
