September 15, 2011

Local activist and Fatah secretary-general in Jerusalem Adnan Ghaith was summoned today by Israeli intelligence today, several hours after his return to Jerusalem from serving a military-ordered four month exile sentence. Ghaith told Silwanic that: "I was threatened with force, if I don't present myself to the interrogation centre in Muskubiya [the Russian Compound in West Jerusalem] tomorrow morning." Ghaith currently suffers from a severe medical condition, following his experiences. His original sentencing occurred when the Israeli Military invoked an emergency law from the British Mandate period of Palestine to enable a ban on his presence in his home city of Jerusalem for a four-month period.
