The Charity’s Organisation in Silwan Shut Down Again for One Year
Wadi Hilwe's Information Centre informed us that the Israeli authorities shut down the organisation in Ras al Amoud again, this time for one year.
Al Haj Ibrahim Sarhan, the head of the organization, said forces raided the centre at the end of last month. They placed the new closure order on the door despite the fact that it was due to reopen on the 24th January 2012 after being shut down for a month.
According to the order, which was signed by the police’s main officer "Yohanan Danino", they are shutting it down under the law of "Preventing terrorism 1948".
Al Haj confirmed that the organisation provides humanitarian and social services for to locals of Silwan. The large hall, one of the extreme few available to Palestinians, hosts various gatherings for different occasions.
Sarhan said they appealed to the police last year and are still working on it.
