Fakhri Abu Diab turns himself in for 16 months of actual imprisonment

The Jerusalemite activist and member of the Committee for the Defense of Silwan Properties and Real Estate, Fakhri Abu Diab, turned himself in on Thursday to Al-Maskobyeh where he will be serving 16 months of actual imprisonment. Abu Diab said that the District Court rejected last week the appeal submitted by his lawyer against the Magistrate Court’s decision to prison him for 16 months, and one year parole. Abu Diab was accused of several charges such as harassing, humiliating and cursing official employees while working in Silwan, referring to the Occupation Municipality’s staff, along with transporting Palestinians with a West Bank ID to Jerusalem without having a permit, and helping organizations and companies to avoid paying taxes in addition to “confidential files” according to the Public Prosecution’s claims. Abu Diab condemned the Israeli pursuits of the Jerusalemites activists aimedto silencethe Palestinian voice which reveals the Israeli violationsin the city.
