A raid on the neighbourhood of Wadi Al-Rababeh in Silwan
May 29, 2013

The Nature and Parks Authority employees along with Israeli police forces raided the neighborhood of Wadi Al-Rababeh in Silwan on Tuesday afternoon. Orabi Shkeir, who is a resident of the neighborhood, narrated to Wadi Hilweh Information Center what had happened with him saying: “The Nature and Parks Authority employees along with Israeli police forces raided our land in Wadi Al-Rababeh. I refused the staying of the Nature and Parks Authority in the land since they didn’t have an official order to do so, but the police forced me to answer them few questions regarding the land and its ownership and if we had the official document to prove ownership, they also focused on how repairs are made in the lands of Wadi Al-Rababeh which were destroyed after the Israeli bulldozers had completely bulldozed the lands.” Orabi added: “the Nature and Parks Authority tried to claim ownership of the land, but I insisted that it is owned by the family who had bought it ten years ago from Sumrein family, and was documented in the official departments.”
