For the fourth day…Raiding the neighbourhoods of Silwan and issuing tickets for merchants and calling them for investigation
August 22, 2013

For the fourth consecutive day, the Israeli authorities raided the neighbourhoods of Silwan and issued tickets for several commercial stores.

Employees from the municipality, Israeli tax authority and the Nature and Parks Authority as well as the police raided the neighbourhoods of Silwan on Thursday morning (Ein Al-Lozeh, Al-Abbasyeh, Martyr Samer Sarhan Street, the Bridge and Bi’er Ayoub) and harassed the commercial stores owners and photographed their stores; the tax authorities handed several merchants calls to investigate them.

Meanwhile, the Israeli forces established several military checkpoints on the entrances of Silwan’s neighbourhoods and pulled cars over and searched them as well as checking the drivers’ IDs, knowing that Wednesday’s campaign in terms of checkpoints and pulling cars over lasted all day and night until 3 a.m.
