Sentencing four Jerusalemites on charges of membership in Hamas Movement

The District court in Jerusalem sentenced four Jerusalemites on Wednesday on charges of membership in Hamas Movement. Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, said that District court sentenced 42-year old Yacoub Mahmoud Asab from the neighbourhood of Al-Sowaneh and 44-year old Kifah Ibrahim Sarhan from Silwan for 7 years of actual imprisonment; note that they have been detained for 27 months and Abu Asab is charged with being the head of Hamas Movement in Jerusalem and Sarhan as the chief financial officer of Hamas. He added that the judge sentenced the 38-year old Jerusalemite prisoner Ahmad Ibrahim Alayan from Beit Safafa for four and a half years of actual imprisonment; note that he has been under house arrest for several months and spent 19 months in prison. The judge also sentenced 36-year old Ashraf Ashoor Ashoor for three and a half years of actual imprisonment. Ashraf has been under house arrest for two years and is from the neighbourhood of Ras Al-Amoud.
