The Israeli forces broke into Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday morning and fired sound grenades and rubber bullets towards the worshippers and Marabouts in its courtyards. Wadi Hilweh Information center was informed that the guard, Amjad Alami, was injured with a rubber bullet in his face and the injury was described as moderate. Several others suffocated after they were sprayed with pepper gas. The forces broke into Al-Aqsa through Dung Gate and Al-Silsileh Gate and heavily fired sound grenades and rubber bullets towards all worshippers (males, females and elderly people). They also surrounded dozens of worshippers in Al-Qibli Mosque and locked them inside after closing the gates with iron chains during which violent clashes broke out at the gates and the forces sprayed the worshippers with pepper gas. The forces then arrested one young men and one female “Marabout” after assaulting and hitting her. A state of high tension is currently present at the gates of Al-Aqsa due to the Israeli restrictions and tightening at the gates as they are preventing young men from entering Al-Aqsa and had detained dozens of Jerusalemite worshippers’ IDs who managed to enter Al-Aqsa to pray. Since last night, dozens of Jerusalemites arrived at Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to stay and sleep inside in response to the Jewish groups’ calls to break into the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the days of the Passover holiday.
