Prison sentences, arrests and extensions of arrest
The Israeli forces arrested on Tuesday early morning five Jerusalemites, they are: 17-year old Mohammad Zakaria Abu Khdeir, 23-year old Ja’far Yaser Abu Khdeir and the brothers Mahmoud, Taher and Abdelkarim Abu Ta’a. The Israeli forces executed a series of arrests in Anata and raided the houses of residents. Witnesses said that the police raided more than 10 houses and arrested six young men. They are: Raed Emwasi (35), Ahmad Ribhi (26) and his brother Mohammad Ribhi (20), Abdullah Salameh (21) and his brother Mohammad Salameh (28) and the 15-year old minor Emad Silwadi. The forces also arrested on Tuesday afternoon the 22-year old Abdullah Khalil Abbasi after stopping him in the neighborhood of Ras Al-Amoud. Mohammad Mahmoud, Al-Dameer organization lawyer, said that the Magistrate court judge decided to release Eyad Gheith and Mohammad Talhami with a 500-NIS bail and house arrest for 7 days. The public prosecution submitted a prosecutor’s permit to submit an indictment against Amjad Emwas. The forces also arrested Mohammad Seif from Shu’fat on Tuesday. Prison sentences… The Magistrate court judge sentenced Naser Abu Sbeih and Khaled Abu Sneineh for 3 months and one days of actual imprisonment on charges of throwing stones; note that they were arrested on the 4th of last July. Lawyer Mahmoud explained that the prosecution attempted to increase their prison sentence but to no avail. The judge also extended the arrest of Mohammad Shanaq, Saleh Dirbas, Hasan Abu Khdeir and Taha Abu Khdeir until Thursday. The District court judge extended the arrest of Mohammad Hamad from Shu’fat until 20/08/2014; note that he is accused of possession of weapons and attempted murder. The judge also extended on Monday the arrest of Mohammad Abed from Samir Amis until 20/08/2014 when the so-called “conduct officer” will release his report and discuss the possibility of releasing him with a financial bail and house arrest.
