The arrest of more than 60 Jerusalemites
The Israeli forces carried out a series of raids and arrests in the neighborhoods and villages of Jerusalem and clashes broke out between the young men and Israeli forces. Wadi Hilweh Information Center- Silwan was informed that the series of arrests included the village of Esawyeh, the neighborhoods of the Old City of Jerusalem, Al-Tur, Al-Sowaneh, Silwan, Wadi Al-Joz and Shu’fat. According to the residents, the forces broke the main doors of the houses and carried out several arrests while the young men and children were sleeping; note that many detainees were blindfolded. The operation of raiding houses and arresting people lasted for more than three continuous hours and was carried out concurrently in all areas. Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, said: “the young men who were arrested on Wednesday were transferred to interrogation centers in the areas of Lod and Al-Ramleh and will be presented to the Israeli courts in Tel Aviv.” Clashes in Esawyeh and Al-Tur Clashes broke out in the village of Esawyeh in which the Israeli forces used live ammunition, sound grenades, tear gas and rubber bullets towards the young men. The paramedics of Esawyeh said that they received distress calls from many houses in the village, and three houses were immediately evacuated after tear gas bombs were fired inside the houses. The paramedics also said that dozens of residents suffocated and 26 locals were injured with rubber bullets where their injuries were classified as “minor”. Clashes also broke out in the neighborhood of Al-Tur where Wael Abulhawa was injured with a rubber bullet in his hand. The forces assaulted and severely beat the resident Seif Abulhawa and injured him in his leg; note that he was transferred to the hospital for treatment. Also, Akram Abulhawa was injured with a rubber bullet and lost consciousness after his two sons were arrested; note that he suffers from heart disease and he was also transferred to the hospital for treatment. The Israeli forces raided the houses of Yaser Abulhawa in Al-Tur and fired sound grenades inside the house after damaging the furniture and causing large financial damages. Arrests Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the Israeli forces arrested more than 50 Jerusalemite on Wednesday early morning hours. The Israeli police said in a statement on Wednesday that they arrested 57 Jerusalemites and pointed out that the number of Jerusalemite detainees since July 2nd, 2014 (since the kidnapping and killing of Martyr Mohammad Abu Khdeir) is 549 in which 383 of them are adults and 166 minors; the police also said that they submitted indictments against 184 detainee.
