Silwan: Arrests and injuries suffered from suffocation

The Israeli police arrested on Sunday night two young men from the neighborhood of Ras Al-Amoud in Silwan, and assaulted the residents with tear gas grenades which led to the suffocation of dozens. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the police arrested the 17-year old Mohammad Bujeh and the 17-year old Mohammad Isam Abbasi while they were in the neighborhood of Ras Al-Amoud; witnesses said that the police assaulted and beat them. In a related matter, dozens of locals from the neighborhoods of Bi’er Ayoub and Ein Al-Lozeh suffocated after the Israeli forces heavily and randomly fired tear gas grenades towards their house. The residents confirmed that a state of calm prevailed over the neighborhoods of Silwan on Sunday night, but the Israeli forces took advantage and were stationed in the settlers’ building (Bet Yonatan) in Silwan and fired dozens of tear gas grenades towards the residents’ houses. The 65-year old Nu’man Abu Sneineh was transferred to the hospital after suffering severe suffocation. Witnesses said that they were surprised while they were heading to perform the Night Prayer at Bi’er Ayoub Mosque as tear gas grenades were fired towards them; note that the Imam of the Mosque appealed to provide help to the injured. The Israeli forces had targeted the students in the neighborhood of Bi’er Ayoub in the afternoon hours with sound grenades and clashes broke out in the neighborhood of Ras Al-Amoud. Tags: Clashes
