October 20, 2014

Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, said that the District court sentenced the 15-year old Mohammad Dari for 9 months of actual imprisonment and pointed out that he will appeal the decision. The Magistrate court judge also sentenced Ibrahim Kleib and Bilal Nofal for two and a half months of actual imprisonment. He also sentenced two brothers from Silwan and their father. Lawyer Mahmoud explained that the judge sentenced on Monday Mohammad Sarhan for 7 months of actual imprisonment and his brother Ishaq for five months on charges of attacking a settler and sentenced their father for 45 days on charges of attacking the police during the arrest of his sons. The lawyer pointed out that he refused the claims of the police and confirmed that it was the police that assaulted the family. In a related matter, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal submitted by the Jerusalemite prisoner Mohammad Aton who is the son of the isolated Jerusalemite MP Ahmad Aton. Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, explained that the Supreme Court rejected the appeal submitted to reduce the prison sentence of Mohammad Aton knowing that he was arrested on 2/12/2013 among a group of children from Sur Baher and the court sentenced him for 22 months of actual imprisonment on charges of throwing stones when he was less than 15 years old. He added that Mohammad was transferred in between several prisons and is currently imprisoned in Megiddo prison; note that he was punished and banned from being visited several times. Abu Asab pointed out that the occupation authorities are detaining 52 Jerusalemite children inside their prisons (Ofek, Megiddo and Hasharon).
