Distributing demolition orders…removing water meters and confiscating Palestinian flags in the neighborhood of Al-Sowaneh

The employees of “Gihon” water company along with Israeli forces and Intelligence raided on Wednesday the neighborhood of Al-Sowaneh east of the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. The locals of Al-Sowaneh explained that the municipality crews also raided the houses and distributed ten administrative demolition orders of Tuesday and Wednesday under the pretext of building without a permit; note that the house have been built for a period of 7-12 years. The Gihon employees removed the water meters from three houses under the pretext of “accumulation of debt”. The Israeli forces raided the areas of Al-Sowaneh and confiscated the Palestinian flags that were hung on the walls and the electric poles. They also forced the residents to remove the flags hung on the windows of their house and threatened to impose financial fine on them. On the other hand, clashes broke out in Shu’fat refugee camp in response to the visit carried out by the Minister of Internal Security along with large Israeli forces who took pictures of the buildings near the military checkpoint; the forces raided on building during the Minister’s visit. The forces fires tear gas and sound grenades towards the young men who responded by throwing stones.
