April 15, 2015

The Israeli Minister of Housing and Construction “Uri Ariel” sent on Tuesday a letter to the Prime Minster and asked to him to immediately stop all renovation works inside the Dome of the Rock under the pretext of “damaging the monuments of the alleged Temple”. Ariel requested the Israeli police to confiscate all construction equipment and prevent the renovation by force. He said in his letter: “The renovation works at Al-Aqsa Mosque should be done under the supervision of the Israeli Ministry of Antiquities after the ratification of the mini-ministerial committee, and any renovation inside Al-Aqsa should be done under the supervision of the Jews.” The Islamic Supreme Commission and the “Awqaf and Affairs and Islamic Sanctities” Council confirmed in a press conference in Jerusalem that the management of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its renovation is the responsibility of the Islamic Awqaf. The press conference also condemned the statement made by the Israeli Minister of Housing and Construction and also condemned the Israeli Authority’s policy of isolating Marabouts from Al-Aqsa Mosque.
