Arresting one young man and injuries during clashes near Damascus Gate
The occupation forces arrested a Palestinian young man and injured several others with wounds and bruises during clashes that broke out in the area of Damascus Gate-one of the gates of the Old City of Jerusalem. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that a march for the extremist settlers was organized in the area of Damascus Gate (a response to the stabbing of one police individual in the area on Sunday morning) and chanted racist slogans against Arabs under the protection of Israeli police and Special Forces. On Sunday night, a group of young men were present in the area of Damascus Gate and the Special Forces fired sound grenades towards them for no reason which led to the breakout of clashes in the area; the forces also fired rubber bullets and sprayed the young men with waste water. Al-Aqsa emergency and paramedics staff at Bur Al-Laqlaq said that 4 citizens were injured during the clashes. One of them was injured with a rubber bullet above his left eye and was transferred to the hospital for treatment and three others were injured with shrapnel of sound grenades. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the occupation forces arrested the 18-year old Sameh Ayyash from Shu’fat refugee camp under the pretext of throwing stones. Limited clashes also broke out in the village of Esawyeh, the neighborhoods of Ras Al-Amoud and “Middle Neighborhood” in Silwan and the police established checkpoints in some neighborhoods and the entrances of Silwan.
