Extending the arrest of a Jerusalemite girl...extensions of arrest and releases

The Magistrate judge extended the arrest of a Jerusalemites girl until Thursday under the pretext of “possession of a knife”. Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the Magistrate judge extended on Tuesday the arrest of 15-year old Manar Majdi Shweiki until next Thursday to interrogate her on charges of “possession of a knife” while walking in the Old City of Jerusalem. The lawyer added that the forces arrested Shweiki on Monday night from the Old City of Jerusalem. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the occupation forces raided the house of Shweiki family on Monday night after arresting Manar and arrested her father and interrogated him for several hours. Shweiki was arrested at the beginning of the month from the neighborhood of Wadi Hilweh in Silwan under the pretext of “possession of a knife” and was released a day later. Extensions of arrest In a related matter, the Magistrate judge extended the arrest of Mohammad Qasem Abulhawa until 17/2/2016 (witnesses’ hearing session), Yazan Obeid until 27/12/2015, Rami Mheisen until 20/1/2016, Khader Abu Ghannam and Haitham Khweis until 7/1/2016 (conduct officer’s report); note that Khweis is not detained. Nader Halahleh was also presented o the judge and the evidence submitted against him was challenged as he is accused of “incitement on Facebook”; the decision was postponed until the beginning of next month. The judge also extended the arrest of Ahmad Di’bas until 31/12/2015, and allowed the child Mohammad Sarhan to go to school; he was arrested and was then put under house-arrest. Release Lawyer Mahmoud added that the Magistrate judge decided to release the minors Safir Tahan and Mohammad Mibyad on condition of house-arrest for 5 days. He also released Mousa Khader and Yousef Darwish with no conditions. Extension of arrest until completing the legal procedures The District and Magistrate judges also extended the arrest of several young men and children until completing the legal procedures against them. They are: Mohammad Naser, Anas Abu Mayaleh, Adham Sabteh, Mohammad Naser Jarrah and Laith Husseini. Seif Abu Asab was presented to the judge and a session was scheduled for him on 21/3/2016.
