Prison sentences…extensions of arrest…releases

The Magistrate judge sentenced a Jerusalemite child while the judges extended the arrested of three other Jerusalemite children inside internal “rehabilitation” institutions. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the District judge extended the arrest of 13-year old Ahmad Manasra from Beit Hanina until 16/2/2016 and extended the duration of detaining him inside the internal rehabilitation institution for three more months. The judge also extended the duration of detaining 12-year old Shadi Farrah and 13-year old Ahmad Za’tari inside the internal institutions until 1/3/2016. In a related matter, lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the Magistrate judge sentenced the 17-year old Samer Hamzeh Shallodi for 5 months of actual imprisonment, a suspended probation of 4 months for two years and a 2500-NIS fine. The District judges extended the arrest of Jihad Ja’bari and Baker Aweis until 24/2/2016, Ala’ Al-Qaq until 7/3/2016, Emran Julani until 16/2/2016, Hussein Sub Laban until 27/1/2016, 17-year old Nidal Bazlameet and 17-year old Mohammad Risheq until 21/1/2016 and Majd Julani until 20/1/2016. Mohammad Ammouri was presented to court and a session was scheduled for him on 17/2/2016 while a session for Majd Hadreh was scheduled on 14/3/2016. Baha’ Ajloni was also presented to the judge and a session was scheduled for him on 9/3/2016. The judges also extended the arrest of Mahmoud Mheisen until 22/1/2016, Mohammad Abu Hummos until 1/2/2016 and Tawfiq Abu Dheim until 5/5/2016. The public prosecution submitted an indictment against Mohammad Shalabi and the judge decided to release him with a 4-thousand NIS bail but he is still under administrative arrest. Also, the judge extended the arrest of Emran Julani and Qusai Dandis until completing the legal procedures against them. The public prosecution also submitted an indictment to the District Court against the child Huthayfa Taha and Saeed Qumboz that included charges of “attempt to stab” in two separate incidents; the judge extended their arrest until 26/1/2016. The judge also extended the arrest of Firas Obeid 21/2/2016 and decided not to convict Mohammad Al-Qadi and imposed a 500-NIS fine on him in addition to a 50-hour course and a suspended probation of 4 months for two years. The administrative arrest imposed on Jamal Dari was extended until 20/4/2016 and the prosecution vowed not to extend once it is over. An indictment was also submitted against Hijazi Abu Sbeih and Samer Abu Eisheh including charges of “violating the order of deportation from Jerusalem” and “incitement against the occupation”. The occupation releases four administrative-arrest Jerusalemite prisoners Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, explained that the occupation authorities released the 42-year old Jerusalemite prisoner Abdel Salam Abu Ghazaleh from the Old City (father of Martyr Thaer Abu Ghazaleh) after spending three months under administrative arrest. On Monday, the occupation authorities also released 17-year old Kathem Mahmoud Mohammad Sbeih from the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber after three months of administrative arrest in Megiddo prison. The 17-year old Mohammad Saleh Taleb Gheith and 17-year old Fadi Hasan Samir Abbasi were also released after spending three months under administrative arrest; they are both residents of the neighborhood of Al-Thori in Silwan.
