Seven Palestinians arrested in Silwan as tensions continue to run high

Israeli forces arrested 7 Palestinians from Silwan yesterday, who currently remain in detention. Those arrested were seized by Israeli police at their homes, who were then subjected to interrogation at the police station with their families, who were summoned to the station to undergo additional investigation. The detainees are Mohammad Abu-Knapp (22), Omar Siyam (22), Mahmoud Al-Banna (23), Mohammad Natshe (26), Mohammad Ghaith (19), Muntasir Faraj (16) and Fadi Shwiki (23). Police stated that the men will be detained until at least Friday 31 September, when they will stand prosecution.   Nerves continue to run high in Silwan today as the village experiences severe traffic congestion as a result of road blockades erected in preparation for a Jewish religious march in the Old City area.
