Silwan: The occupation demolishes a house and a family self-demolishes their home in Ras Al-Amoud
Abu Qalbein family self-demolished their home on Monday in the neighborhood of Ras Al-Amoud in Silwan to execute an order by the occupation municipality under the pretext of building without a permit.
Asem Abu Qalbein explained that the family was forced to self-demolish their home in Ras Al-Amoud; the house was still under-construction and the family started building almost a year ago. Municipality crews have raided the construction site several times and handed the family a demolition order which was postponed several times.
Abu Qalbein added that the municipality handed the family an order yesterday ordering them to self-demolish their home within 24 hours.
Abu Qalbein also added that the house is only 40 square meters built from bricks and tin plates.
Demolishing an under-construction house
On the other hand, the municipality’s bulldozers demolished the house of Ali Abu Sway in the neighborhood of Ras Al-Amoud in Silwan under the pretext of building without a permit and without prior notice.
Abu Sway family explained that they were surprised by the demolition operations as they never received a demolition notice. The 200-square meters house was under construction and the family started building on their land almost two years ago.
