Sentencing a young man…extensions of arrest and releases

The District judge sentenced a young man from Silwan and extended the arrest of several others.

Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the District judge sentenced 19-year old Ala’ Al-Qaq for 4 years of actual imprisonment, a suspended probation of 18 months for two years and a 5-thousand NIS fine; lawyer Mahmoud pointed out he will appeal the sentence at the Supreme Court.

In a related matter, lawyer Mahmoud said that the judge extended the arrest of Akram Mustafa until 8/9/2016 for sentencing. He also reduced the “releasing conditions” imposed on the child Fathi Dweik by allowing him to go to school and to leave his home with his family when breaking the fast in Ramadan.

The District judge also extended the arrest of the minors Mahdi Abu Ghannam and Ismaeel Khweis until 16/6/2016 when the so-called “conduct officer” will release his report; the public prosecution submitted an indictment against them including charges of throwing stones in the village of Al-Tur.

Also, the judge extended the arrest of the child Abed Barbar, Yousef Khalil and Ala’ Fawwaz until Wednesday, Mahdi Maswadeh until 9/6/2016 and Hasan Safadi until 10/6/2016.

The judge decided to release the child Mohammad Abed on condition of house-arrest in the village of Esawyeh, a 1000-NIS bail and a third-party bail of 3 thousand NIS.

The judge also release Khader Julani with a third-party bail.
