Pictures: 285 settlers break into Al-Aqsa Mosque…a memorial service for the deceased Halil at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Dozens of settlers broke into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday morning through Dung Gate under heavy the protection of Special Forces following a call from the family of the deceased Halil Yafa Ariel who was killed two weeks ago in the settlement of Kiryat Arba’ in Hebron.

The Islamic Awqaf department explained that 285 settlers broke into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning break-in session through Dung Gate. Settlers were in the form of consecutive groups where the largest group consisted of 88 settlers and included the family of Halil. During a tour in the courtyards, settlers performed their religious rituals and carried out a memorial ceremony for the deceased which provoked the employees of the Islamic Awqaf Department and in the presence of dozens of police officers and Special Forces.

The occupation forces prevented people from the 1948 lands from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday morning and detained the IDs of Jerusalemites before entering while allowing dozens of settlers to break-in and perform religious rituals inside Al-Aqsa courtyards.

A group of settlers also performed their religious rituals at Al-Aqsa gates and the police moved the people who were denied entrance away from Al-Silsileh Gate.

The Islamic Awqaf Department denounced the break-ins into Al-Aqsa courtyards and the occupation government’s actions of allowing settlers to break-in and conduct memorial ceremonies inside the courtyards which provokes the emotions of Muslims.
