Detained for 10 months…a decision to release the body of Martyr Baha’ Alayan
August 8, 2016

The occupation intelligence decided on Monday to release the body of Martyr Mohammad Alayan to bury him in Lions Gate Cemetery in the next few days.

Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the Israeli intelligence agreed to release the body of Martyr Alayan to his family with the presence of only 25-30 individuals in the funeral and conditioned the family to deposit 20 thousand NIS to ensure commitment to the rules. They also conditioned them to bury him in Lions Gate Cemetery; he will be released in the next few days.

Lawyer Mahmoud pointed out that the Martyr’s family refused yesterday the conditions set by the intelligence as they conditioned them to only have 15-20 people during the funeral. The intelligence decided today to increase the number to 25-30 people and the family agreed.

Alayan passed away after carrying out a dual attack of stabbing and shooting along with prisoner Bilal Abu Ghanem in an Israeli bus in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber last October which led to the death of three settlers and injury of others.

Lawyer Mahmoud confirmed that the procedures of the appeal submitted to the Supreme Court will stand until the releasing of the last detained body. He pointed out that the Supreme Court issued an order at the end of last month requiring the police and public prosecution to attend court and give a detailed explanation why the Martyrs’ bodies have not been released. The court gave them until 15/8/2016 to respond to the order.
