The occupation forces raided on Tuesday night the headquarters of the Red Cross in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in Jerusalem and evacuated it from demonstrators using force; they were protesting in solidarity with prisoners currently on hunger strike.

The Jerusalemites prisoners’ families committee and Prisoner’s Club in Jerusalem explained that armed occupation police surprisingly raided the headquarters of the Red Cross and requested all demonstrators to immediately evacuate the headquarters claiming that the Red Cross administration filed a claim saying that young men stormed into its headquarters to organize a protest.

They added that the forces used force to evacuate to the protestors who are mostly family members of prisoners including elderly people. The forces also stormed into the headquarters with police dogs.

The police threatened to arrest anyone who protests inside the headquarters of the Red Cross.

The police checked the ID of Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, immediately after raiding the headquarters of the Red Cross.

The Committee and Prisoner’s Club denounced the unjustified act of the Red Cross administration who called the police to evacuate their headquarters. They considered it a “slap” to the prisoners’ families who are worried about their sons currently on hunger strike.

They also confirmed that this International organization should welcome the prisoners’ families and organize their visits to their sons in the occupation’s prisons rather than preventing them from organizing activities in solidarity with the prisoners and calling the Israeli police to evacuate them from its headquarters.
