The occupation police requested 5-year old Jawad Abu Mayaleh and his wife Dalal for interrogation at Salah Eddin Street police station regarding what he had posted on his Facebook account.

Jawad Abu Mayaleh who is from Silwan recently wrote on his Facebook account: “My dear friends, Goodbye”. He also posted a picture with a verse from the Qur’an saying “We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return”, “Every soul will taste death”, and “Survival to God”.

Abu Mayaleh explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center that he had posted the above mentioned on his Facebook account last Saturday before leaving his home and heading to Hebron to take break for a few days in a hotel due to the pressures of life. In the next morning, he called his son-in-law and told him he was not going back to his house. Immediately after hanging up, he received a phone call from the police requesting him for interrogation and told him to turn himself-in to the nearest police station.

Abu Mayaleh said he refused to head to police stations near Hebron and immediately went to Salah Eddin Street police station. He was surprised when he found out that the police had raided his home and searched it when he was absent. They also requested his wife for interrogation regarding his post on Facebook. They thought he intended to carry out an attack against them which he denied.

The interrogator warned Abu Mayaleh from publishing similar posts and threatened to fine him 30 thousand NIS and said: “The Israeli police was in a state of alter to reach you”.
