Old City of Jerusalem: Samer Idkeidek self-demolishes part of his home
The Jerusalemite Samer Idkeidek was forced to self-demolish part of his home in the Old City of Jerusalem following an order issued by the occupation municipality under the pretext of building without a permit.
A year ago, Samer built two rooms on the roof of his house (30 square meters) for his three children. He explained that municipality employees raided his house at the end of last June and handed him an administrative demolition order under the pretext of building without a permit.
He added that the occupation municipality threatened to impose building violation fees in addition to the demolition costs if he doesn’t self-demolish his house. Samer said he was forced to demolish it since the municipality is known to impose high fines he can’t afford; he is an employee at a factory and has two children in college.
